Joe Dejima has garnered extensive experience and notable achievements in both music and volunteer work. Over a span of two years, Joe worked at Dragon Asia Bistro and provided piano tutoring to students from preliminary to grade 6. Additionally, he spent a year tutoring music theory for grades 1 through 3 and another year offering composition tutoring in various styles including jazz, orchestra, pop, and classical piano.

In his volunteer endeavors, Joe contributed to the Young Care program in 2021 and organized a fundraiser concert to support the Homeless Youth Organisation in the same year. His accomplishments are highlighted by receiving a full music scholarship for A.B. Paterson College, where he attended from 2021 to 2023. During this period, he was awarded for co-curricular achievement and academic commendation from 2019 to 2023, as well as academic awards and instrumental awards between 2021 and 2023. In 2023, he also earned the Performing Arts Award and a bronze level Duke of Edinburgh medal in 2019, which involved numerous hours of library service, piano, and swimming, along with completing a qualifying camp.

Joe's musical prowess is further demonstrated by his High Distinction in AMEB Piano Grades 1 through 6, Honours in Grades 7 and 8, and completion of the Associate in Music Diploma for Piano Performance (AmusA). His performance accolades include first place at the Eisteddfod Piano Performance from 2021 to 2023, and first place at the Somerset Concert from 2016 to 2020. He also secured third place in the AMSE Topology Division Composer’s Competition in 2020 and first place in the Eisteddfod Big Band and Wind Symphony for his original composition "Wolfsbane" in 2023.

Joe has been actively involved in co-curricular activities from 2017 to 2023 at A.B. Paterson College, where he participated in the college musical, the Wind Symphony in percussion, the Senior Big Band in jazz piano, and the Senior Rock Band in rock piano. Additionally, he was a member of Project Swing, a jazz band where he played piano.
