Profile

Kanon Ito embarked on her piano journey at the age of 4, guided by her mother, Sayano Ito, and later under the tutelage of Clemens Leske from the age of 12. Concurrently, she commenced violin studies at 5, continuing until 2022. During this period, she served as the concertmaster of The Arts Unit Symphony Orchestra from 2021-2022 and successfully attained her Associate Diploma in Violin. Opting to focus exclusively on the piano thereafter, Kanon joined the Conservatorium High School in 2019.

Kanon's musical achievements are a testament to her dedication and talent. She competed and secured victories in prestigious eisteddfods across Sydney, including St George, Wollongong, Ryde, and more. Her musical journey began in 2011 at the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod. Apart from her accomplishments as a performer, Kanon actively engages in accompanying auditions, exams, and competitions. Furthermore, she embarked on teaching piano and violin to beginners in 2022 and served as an official accompanist at the Ryde Eisteddfod, gaining valuable experience in the music world.

Her tenure at the Conservatorium High School has provided numerous opportunities for growth. Under the guidance of Clemens Leske, her current piano teacher, she has also received conducting lessons from Dr. Paul Terracini, leading to a memorable experience conducting a school orchestra. Additionally, she has delved into the realm of chamber music under the mentorship of Kathryn Selby, participating in a Piano Trio that guest-performed at the 2023 Sydney Eisteddfod Kawai Senior Scholarship.

In 2022, Kanon was honored with an invitation to provide music at Government House for Her Excellency, hosting a dinner attended by 90 visiting high court judges. The following year, she participated in a masterclass conducted by Uta Weyand, one of the judges from the Sydney International Piano Competition. Kanon successfully completed Music 2 HSC accelerated in 2022, earning an Encore nomination, along with an Encore nomination in Music Extension this year. Kanon has a keen interest in modern music and hopes to explore more in the following years of her study.
